What is health food
On July 1, 2005, the State Food and Drug Administration promulgated and implemented the Measures for the Administration of Health Food Registration (Trial). The measures stipulate: "Health food refers to foods that claim to have specific health functions or for the purpose of supplementing vitamins and minerals, that is, foods that are suitable for consumption by specific groups, have the function of regulating the body, are not for the purpose of treating diseases, and do not produce any acute, subacute or chronic harm to the human body."
In our country, health food must apply for registration, after the State Food and Drug Administration review and approval can be called health food. The health food logo stipulated in our country is a sky blue pattern, known as "blue hat", and there are words of "health food" below.
Characteristics of health food
1, health food is first of all food rather than drugs, should have the general food supply, that is, nutrition, sensory, safety. Drugs are used to treat diseases and are allowed to have some degree of toxic side effects. However, health food is not for the purpose of treating diseases, does not pursue clinical therapeutic effect, and does not promote therapeutic effect.
2, health food should be functional, that is, it should at least have a function of regulating the function of the human body, such as immune regulation function, anti-aging function, improve memory function, promote growth and development function, anti-fatigue function, weight loss function, etc., its function needs to undergo the necessary animal or population function experiments to prove that its function is clear and reliable.
3, health food is suitable for specific people to eat, generally according to the product description of the population to eat.
Second, special dietary food
The concept of special dietary foods
Foods specially processed or formulated to meet special physical or physiological conditions and/or to meet special dietary needs in cases of disease, disorder, etc. The content of nutrients and/or other nutrients in such foods is significantly different from that of comparable ordinary foods.
Categories of special dietary foods
Infant formula: infant formula, older infants and young children formula, special medical use of infant formula.
Infant supplementary food: infant cereal supplementary food, infant canned supplementary food.
Formula food for special medical purposes (except varieties of infant formula food for special medical purposes).
Other special dietary foods other than the above categories (including complementary food nutritional supplements, sports nutrition foods, and other special dietary foods with corresponding national standards).
Third, new food raw materials
New food raw materials, also known as new resource food, refers to the newly developed, newly discovered, newly introduced in China, no eating habits, in line with the basic requirements of food, non-toxic and harmless to the human body. It can be directly added to ordinary food and health food as raw materials. Studies have found that many new food raw materials play an important role in ensuring and promoting human health.
New food raw materials cover a wide range of animals, plants and microorganisms; Components isolated from animals, plants and microorganisms; Food composition whose original structure has been changed; Other newly developed food raw materials.
China stipulates that new food raw materials should comply with the "Food Hygiene Law" and relevant regulations, rules and standards, shall not produce any acute, subacute, chronic or other potential health hazards to the human body, and the list of new food raw materials needs to be approved by the Ministry of Health.
